"Elusive Single-track in the Chilcotins" is a photographic mountain bike journey through the Chilcotin and Shulaps mountain ranges of British Columbia. In this slideshow Pat Mulrooney takes you along a few epic mountain bike adventures into some of the more remote back-country corners and easily accessible day trips within the area. These trips generally took place in the Spring and Summer of 2008 where the unusually cold, wet and snowy seasons added another element to the already difficult rides. Pushing the limits of the mountain bike as a back-country tool and always challenging the question,"Can we ride there?" was always the objective. This past summer the term, "Hike-a-Bike", took on a whole new meaning and tested the boundaries of what you can actually drag your bike up. One trip consisted of a float plane drop-off to a remote lake up to 6 days long exploring new valleys, ridgelines and mountain passes while other rides involved high alpine point to point single-tracks with up to 5000ft descents possible in one long day.

Pat Mulrooney
Pat Mulrooney enjoys combining his passion for mountains and photography every spare moment he has. He is an avid back-country mountain biker, split-boarder, and mountaineer. Raised in the northern B.C. town of Cassiar and now residing on Vancouver's North Shore his love for the outdoors has always been just outside his front door. His desire to discover unique and challenging adventures has always driven him to explore different areas of B.C. as well as many other parts of the world.

After discovering the Chilcotin mountains of British Columbia over 10 years ago he immediately fell in love with its diverse terrain and endless possibilities. A season hasn't passed where he hasn't spent considerable time on bike, foot and board in the area. Pat utilizes good old fashion human propulsion along with the occasional float plane or helicopter to access some of the most beautiful terrain imaginable. A former cross-country and downhill mountain bike racer, he has always had a strong relationship with bicycles. This passion also led him to his career with Norco Performance Bicycles where he has worked as a sales rep for over 12 years.
